StockResearchDD.com - Website Structure

October 22, 2007

The StockResearchDD.com website, about to launch, consistently presents identically formatted Research & Due Diligence components for each company whose data is embedded in the site. The result from a subscriber point of view can be likened to a person who wants to buy a chocolate bar and happens to be standing outside a retail store devoted to selling only chocolate bars. Entering the store, the potential purchaser sees a series of glass display cases, each with a particular distinct kind of chocolate bar - i.e. one display case contains several different brands and sizes of dark milk chocolate bars, another chocolate bars with almonds, and so on. Each brand of chocolate bar in each display case has an easily read document associated with it that describes the essential characteristics of that bar. Each descriptive document is identically formatted. Say that based on his/her review of that documentation they buy a dark chocolate bar, and then decide they also might want to buy a light milk chocolate bar. They go to the light milk chocolate bar display case and, now being familiar with the structure of the description documents, more quickly do their research and make a selection.

Today’s National Post (a daily Canadian national financial newspaper) quotes a recent statement made by David Dodge, the current Bank of Canada Governor, to the Institute of International Finance in Washington as follows: “Just as food companies are required to list all ingredients on their labels, so should issuers list the ‘ingredients of a security’. And just as food companies are required to provide that information in a sufficiently clear manner, so that people who can’t tolerate peanuts, for example, know that there are peanuts in a product, so should securities issuers be sufficiently clear.”

We agree with Dodge, and a large part of the rational for developing the website is centered on that philosophy.
